Our commitment to digital accessibility

At Ochsner Health we're dedicated to making our digital experience accessible to everyone. We continually review and modify our web site and mobile applications to improve its accessibility for people with disabilities. We strive to provide an equivalent and positive experience to people who use assistive technologies or adaptive methods. As part of its commitment to accessible digital content, Ochsner Health has a core group of accessibility subject matter experts which form the Ochsner Health Digital Accessibility Program. The program engages with the digital information teams throughout the product life cycle – from design to testing.

Our digital properties, including our website (ochsner.org), the Ochsner Health mobile application and electronic documents, support the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, version 2.1, levels A and AA (referred to as WCAG 2.1 AA).

We determine conformance by accessibility reviews during design and testing during development. Testing is done with a combination of automated and manual testing. Tools and methods include keyboard only, JAWS, VoiceOver, Talkback, zooming to 400%, text spacing, and Color Contrast Analyzer. We primarily test with Chrome on Windows and Safari on iOS. PDFs are tested with Acrobat Pro Accessibility Checker, CommonLook Validator, Color Contrast Analyzer, and JAWS.
